The baskets are luminescent. Your talent is never ending. Always surprises. Smooch! I still cannot get the Puccini out of my head…the pose was so personal, like I was in a dialogue with him. On dialogues: the Nijinsky family asked me to check on Vaslav in the Montmartre Cemetery to see how he’s holding up. I did last Wednesday. I wish I could put a photo of the two of us having a conversation - as we both dislike the pose/role the sculptor has but him in-Petruschka,- a puppet for all eternity. Damming. The family will have a meeting🤷🏼♀️We are thinking about me creating Afternoon of a Fawn, iconic Nijinsky via Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe Paris premier…. And the Rites of Spring, heart stopping.
Did you know Stravinsky was becoming a lawyer until D plucked him up? What are the odds.
What a great project to do, Elizabeth, fascinating backstory —how inconvenient for Nijinsky to be associated as a puppet forever, it will be great for you to help change that perception. Thank you for the compliment on my work and my portrait of Puccini.
I honestly looked forward to another piece about your life. This didn't disappoint Michael! Your relationship with your "student" and how you worked together -- and took from her the beauty, thought, and importance of the series, in terms of the viewer/buyer. Loved how it opened on your bike and the work laced throughout in this piece as you described the journey.
Thank you for your wonderful comments on this chapter, Deborah, about the series and the bike ride. I thought the bike thing striking for anyone who knows LA. And a special thank you for your paid subscription, touché! 💜
Thank you for this remarkable insight into your life. Your work is so astonishingly beautiful, a talent that boggles my mind. I'm looking with anticipation to reading your future posts, and may they continue for a long, long time.
I love the insights that you are giving into your creative process. Truly inspiring; it is so rare to have both artistic genius and the means to express it in words.
Thank you.
PS damn it, I'm jealous of your smoke 🤣🤣, being in 4he middle of fighting with some of my own.
Such an inspiration to read this - an inspiration to write and to keep learning and living. ❤️
Absolutely! And I’m very happy you find inspiration from this, Cynthia!

Wow, thank you, Dave!
This is beautifully written, Michael.
Coming from you, Trudi, that is a very special compliment.
I learned so much about the art you shared and the painting process.
