What an enjoyable and impressive story from such a young age. Cool to see the painting you loved. I remember you talking about it in your interview with Jacqueline. Taking out the car for a joy ride at 11 years.. That's brave. I was 13 and on a dare with a friend... Not all alone and at night.

I've been reading your posts for some time now and i've always wanted to know what started your artistic journey. About myself, i can say that i started painting as a hobby a few years ago. It's now a serious hobby for me and because of this, i have created a studio for myself (our home has four rooms, and one of them is my studio).

One more thing, my paintings are mixed-medium and i can see not only they have evolved, but also i have done so (see my Notes).

I love La Jolla. I can't imagine what it must have been like growing up there.

Warwick's is still there. My wife and I shopped there during a visit last month.

Can't wait to read more of your story. Cheers!

Wow, a very powerful origin story, thank you for sharing! It sounds like a wonderful way to grow up, any I love that you are attracted to Rembrandt like a magnet. I visited La Jolla once, I loved it.

Thank you Michael giving big glimpses into your backstory as a child growing up in La Jolla. My ex-husband went to college there, when it was the Cal western campus. My uncle was the head librarian at the University. I lived in Newport Beach on the beach at the time while in college (it was cheap during the winter months and most of Newport Beach with all University of California, Irvine students ) and when I visited La Jolla I thought I lived in the slum up north after being there. Lol! 🤣

I think I am the same age as your sister Janet. I graduated from high school in 1972. We are all of the same era were many kids tried out their parents car. Randy has a real funny story to tell you about his own experience in that department. And it was so easy to get cars because like you said nobody lower their doors and they left their keys in the ignition. We lived in the best times of Michael!

You paint so beautifully with the words just like how you color and bring life to your amazing artwork. I wanted to just embrace that little boy you described and take his anguish away. I’m so happy you found balance and harmony.

I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to more of your biography. Thank you! ✨🤗💜

Michael, I read this out loud to my husband tonight and he loved it as did I. Growing up in SoCal, ending up in San Clemente for high school and having three brothers (he's the youngest) he laughed so hard over the young driver. I feel this is going much deeper and look forward to it. What an incredible experience in the tennis world you and your sister had. I adore how one painting and a grandma inspired you to live your purpose. We are "nana and papa" and I hope to inspire my grandchildren as well by "seeing them." So glad my friends here re-stacked your story today!

.. such a fascinating ‘Memoir .. tons of detail & nuance.. tons !

You’d burst out laughing at mine.. though mine turned at age 12

upon suddenly becoming a dazed kid on a farm & no longer a confused city kid

I’ve approx 100 ‘memoir stylings’ as I call them.. both Farm & City settings

but since nobody ‘sees much less ‘reads what the algorithm deems unworthy

am shifting my efforts as ‘hypermedia artist & generalist..

to Environmental Awareness via Feature Film - Adventure / Drama Motion Picture

- a side note too - much of my Fiction has ‘Athletics’ Pro & Amateur deeply embedded !

Will certainly give your ‘early days’ Memoir a Second Read !

Must pass yours on to a schoolmate Bill O’Hara & fellow Canadian

He & entire family terrorized me on the tennis courts..

His sister Jane O’Hara likely crossed your paths

as Canada’s leading Women’s tennis player.. same era as yours ! 🦎🏴‍☠️
