Exploring Art

Hi, I'm Michael Newberry, and I've been a full-time figurative artist for over five decades. I grew up in California, and at 19, I moved to Holland to study art in the land of Rembrandt. Since then, I've lived in Spain, Greece, and on both coasts of the United States.

I have several goals in painting. One is to constantly improve my technique and turn my weaknesses into strengths. In content, my view is to create visions of feeling and states of being I would like to experience in the future.

I've written six or seven books on art, including the art historical work "Evolution through Art." Here I am sharing chapters from my art books, along with thoughts I have about today's art culture. All my posts are free, yet I would feel honored if you bought me a coffee. Thank you.
