Work in Progress: The 10th in This Space Series
Repurposed From an Earlier Work That 80s Actress Jonna Lee Pangburn Posed For
Current work-in-progress, my 10th in the space series. I am repurposing one of my early paintings, using the original figure drawing, drawn live in 1993, with 80's actress Jonna Lee Pangburn. And transporting the figure to a teal and caramel-gold nebula. She had been one of my art students at Otis College of Art and Design in the early 90's, she got the highest grade point average of any student. I had quit teaching, in case you were wondering if I drew my students, and was soon to move to Rhodes, Greece. After I realized that da Vinci repurposed his figures in other paintings, I thought: "Why not?!" The original 1999 painting called "The Slipper" I finished in Greece.
The angle is incredible.
I think repurposing is brilliant. Though I think it’s more recreating; the other sounds so utilitarian! Why does a thing you make have to be a dead end? I agree with you and da Vinci that it doesn’t have to be. And the painting is looking phenomenal.
