Two Florals in a Collector's Collection
Happy to get this image of two of my monochromatic florals. Some people believe that artists can't part with works because they want to not only make them but be the appreciators as well. I love the works I make but in my studio they are up for show or stacked away, as I am too busy with my mind on the next creations. But having work in another's home is an exquisite feeling, a feeling of completing the creative cycle, a feeling that they have found their loving home. It moves me in a way that is unique to all my other experiences.
It makes me feel sorrowful for Van Gogh, that never sold a painting, never got to feel (except by his brother) this. Someone loving your work enough to have in their most intimate spaces. To wake up to it or accompanying bathing rituals.
These are oil on linen, and fairly indestructible. And will live fine in a bathroom, as long as it well ventilated and in a relatively dry climate. In one loft I had there was big bathroom and I would have art in there, I had often taught workshops so the bathroom had traffic. You would be surprised how many times I sold one of the bathroom works. Perhaps collectors think different without their pants?
