Two Chapters to Go in My Book: Evolution Through Art
You will never look at art in the same way.
Progress to report on my upcoming book, Evolution Through Art. It is at 46,000 words, 40K already copyedited. It is divided into three parts: The Quest, Psychological Power Plays, and Freedom. And they are bracketed by an introduction and postscript. There are two pieces of mine in the intro and postscript, not in the main, merely to show the author is an artist. Part 1 has six chapters, Part 2 has 5, and Part 3 has 3. Right now I am almost finished the 2nd to last chapter, titled Evolution.
The concept the Evolution chapter is that innovation in art is an addition to knowledge, form, light, space, perception, and emotion. [I did not include artists that are traditionalists or artists that threw away art's means.] The artists I included, in addition to having solid foundations, added something special and unique either in perception, emotion, concept, or epistemologically (how they organize in new ways). The artists in this chapter are Vermeer, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet and contemporaries Hefferlin, Olaku, Maidman, Vaugel, Schipperheyn, and Ragir. There was an embarrassment of riches to pick from contemporaries, not only a huge amount of works, but also hundreds of artists to choose from. Heartfelt gratitude to all the artists that are making the world a better place.
The book is a labor of love. I believe that once you read the book you will never look at art in the same way.
I expect the book to be finished at the end of this month, and published sometime in 2021.
