Soulscape 16, Art is Not a Luxury; It’s a Psychological Imperative
From My Upcoming Book: Soulscape – The Role of Art in Our Lives
Rembrandt van Rijn, Portrait of Hendrickje Stoffels, c. 1654. Louvre, Paris. WC.
When I was a child of 11, I saw a Rembrandt painting of a woman on the cover of a large art book. The experience was one of the most profound of my life. I felt that the woman in the painting understood me in a deep and meaningful way. Through his painting, Rembrandt’s genius, emotional intelligence, and profound empathy transcended 400 years to speak directly to the core of an 11-year-old boy. That moment gave me a lifetime of inspiration. Have you ever fallen in love with a work of art, one that has profoundly inspired you over time?
Art is a window to our future.
