Shell on Orange Linen
Newberry, Shell on Orange Linen, pastel.
Drawing feels like carving shape out of the light’s ether. Creating something from nothing, the ultimate alchemy.
One of my first tries on sanded paper, which allows for more layers of mark making. With normal paper I can make about 12 clean (making a pastel stroke that isn’t messy) with sand I can do about 30 layers. In this work you can see how clean the marks are.
