Portrait of Ralph (b. 1996-d. 2016) Commentary and Time-Lapse by Michael Newberry
Newberry discusses the simplified process of working from back to front in this psychologically challenging portrait of a young man that committed suicide.
It has been a couple of years since I painted this portrait of Ralph. One of the two most psychologically difficult artworks I have ever made. For some reason today was the day to assemble the progressing photos into a time-lapse, and layer the video with my commentary of the simple process and the music from the beautiful last of Bach's Goldberg Variations, Aria da Capo è Fine, BWV 988 (Piano) by Kimiko Ishizaka.
