Rules are made to be broken. At least mine are by me.
Rules are made to be broken. At least mine are by me. Is a quote from the Bette Davis character in Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie. One of my rules is never ever show the light source, as it is virtually impossible to give it a feeling of brightness. While showing the reflection of the light works really well. But of recent I am refreshing my color theory knowledge. So I thought, "why not try?!" I think it worked the, sunset feels bright and real.
I am an unofficial atheist and humanist, but I feel spiritual in very deep ways, bordering on the mystical. In the sense I often feel at one with the vibrations of the universe, but literally so. Like a combo receiver/speaker set, but instead of collecting and projecting sound waves I do it with light waves. I don't take these sensations for granted by granting them non-cognitive mystical powers -- I love studying and executing them.
In one of the early chapters of my upcoming book, Evolution Through Art, I bring up Akhenaten, Pharaoh circa 1345 BC, He tried to shift the official Egyptian religions to a kind of humanism with the symbol of sun, Aten, as the source of everything .There is beautiful short ode, which makes me think of this pastel of the sun:
The Short Hymn to Aten:
You are radiant, beauteous, mighty,
Your love is great, immense.
Your rays light up all faces,
Your bright hue gives life to hearts,
When you fill the Two Lands with your love.
