Newberry, Apollo Beach Light Yellow, pastel
There is a light and color difference between east and west coast of the US. This is Apollo Beach near Cape Canaveral in Florida. The water is shallow, and the ocean bottom reflects towards the surface. This atmosphere is lemony yellow. with a lime distance and pink tint in the foreground; the pink makes for a great contrast of yellow ripple in the front.
The sand is different between the two coasts. In California your feet sink deeper and the coarser sand is well separated while in Florida it is finer with salty crust on top, like a sugary pie crust, and the sand is more packed. I think the salty sweat crunch shows up in the colors like a confection. One of the reasons the French Impressionist painted in dabs of color, is that making color vibrations is difficult to do blended -- similar with this pastel.
I am exhausted from non-stop work, about 16 hours straight on this piece. Every second was super concentrated on the color theory, but also visually comparing and contrasting every single mark. My eyes! But they bounce back quickly. I am over the moon with elation on this entire series, every piece works, is completely different in color theory, yet convey a luminous vision.
