It has been 2 1/2 weeks since I started painting Creation from a blank canvas, 64x48”. This early morning I blocked out his left foot, I am darn happy with it. After I finish this post I will move on to his right leg. The plan is then is to do their torsos, forward arms, and finish with their faces. In-between I will edit out the charcoal grid, and play dimming and brightening a few of the stars. Knock on wood, the painting is progressing beautifully.
This work marks my mature stage (latter stage in an artist’s career, not a marking for mature audiences). The technique seems very simple, to me, and it seems to paint itself effortlessly. But, there is so many years of experience behind each mark of paint. It seems like cashing in big time. And it feels magical to paint.
Thankfully, I love painting past painting problems, and struggling with complex problems. I was/am prepared to paint a year or two on this, but I think it will continue to progress rapidly. Fingers crossed.
