A Little Plein Air, Getting Intouch with Your Perception
A little piece in my studio plein air of France, with two tiny red farmhouses.
Honest perception, looking at the world around us without artifice, is undervalued. But it is such a wonderful experience, it is like having a picnic in a forest, rubbing your feet into deep into warm sand, or looking over a distant valley of pale green. Perception is a key element in a healthy philosophy; it is what grounds a human to psychological healthy versus their break with reality which is a main cause of psychosis; and perception is the greatest tool we have to fully experience living in the moment—it is a proactive job of being aware of what is going on around you. One has to wonder why the highbrow artworld is filled with anti-perceptual art? Could it be that the artworld is afraid of authentic perception? Next time you see authentic paintings of the preceiveable world, don't take them for granted but realize they are supporting you from philosophical, emotional, and sensory perspectives. It is eudaemonistic. An important way to lead to a flourishing life.
